An exciting city break to western Georgia, combining the spectacular canyons and caves of the Kutaisi region with Georgian history and traditions, plus a full day in Batumi on the Black Sea.

Trip description

We invite you on an unforgettable journey through western Georgia - a country of breathtaking landscapes, centuries-old history, exceptional cuisine and legendary hospitality. During this four-day trip, we will discover the spectacular Martvili and Okatse canyons, explore one of Georgia’s most beautiful caves, visit the Sataplia Nature Reserve with its dinosaur footprints, and get to know Kutaisi - one of the oldest cities in the country. We will also visit Bagrati Cathedral, overlooking the city from its hilltop location and offering panoramic views of Kutaisi. One day will take us to a completely different side of Georgia - Batumi on the Black Sea. A walk through its elegant city centre, the famous seaside boulevard, modern architecture and some free time by the sea will allow us to experience the unique atmosphere of the capital of Adjara. There will also be plenty of Georgian flavours. During the trip, we have planned a traditional Georgian supra - a shared feast that is one of the most distinctive elements of local culture. The programme has been designed to show different faces of western Georgia within just a few days - wild nature, history, traditions, local cuisine and modern Batumi. DAY 1 - PROMETHEUS CAVE, SATAPLIA AND KUTAISI After breakfast, we depart to continue exploring the Imereti region. We will visit Prometheus Cave - one of the most famous caves in Georgia. During the walk, we will see enormous underground chambers, stalactites, stalagmites and extraordinary rock formations highlighted by impressive lighting. Next, we continue to Sataplia Nature Reserve, best known for its preserved dinosaur footprints. The reserve also features a cave, a section of Colchic forest and a panoramic viewpoint with a glass platform. In the afternoon, we return to Kutaisi. We will visit the monumental Bagrati Cathedral, located on Ukimerioni Hill. The cathedral is one of the symbols of the city, and its elevated location offers beautiful panoramic views over Kutaisi. Next, we take a walk through the city centre. We will see, among other highlights, the characteristic Colchis Fountain, central Kutaisi and the White Bridge. In the evening, one of the most authentic Georgian experiences of the entire trip awaits us - a traditional supra, a shared Georgian feast featuring local dishes, traditional toasts and a unique Georgian atmosphere. Return to the hotel and overnight stay. DAY 2 - BATUMI AND THE BLACK SEA After breakfast, we depart for Batumi - the capital of the Autonomous Republic of Adjara and Georgia’s most famous Black Sea resort. During our walk through the city, we will see Europe Square with the Medea Monument, the atmospheric streets of Old Batumi and the elegant Piazza Square. We then continue towards the seaside part of the city. We will see the harbour, the famous Alphabet Tower and one of Batumi’s most recognisable attractions - the moving sculpture Ali and Nino. Our walk ends at the famous Batumi Boulevard, stretching along the Black Sea coast. After the guided sightseeing, there will be free time. This is a perfect opportunity to relax by the sea, take a walk along the boulevard, enjoy a coffee or try one of the symbols of local cuisine - Adjarian khachapuri, a boat-shaped bread filled with cheese, egg and butter. In the evening, we will enjoy another traditional supra - this time accompanied by a show of Georgian dances, including Kartuli. Late in the evening, departure from Batumi and return to Kutaisi. Overnight stay. DAY 3 - MARTVILI AND OKATSE CANYONS Flight to Georgia and meeting with the tour leader. After arrival, we begin exploring western Georgia. Our first stop will be Martvili Canyon - one of the most picturesque places in the region. Turquoise water, high rock walls and lush vegetation create a spectacular landscape. Depending on weather conditions, there will also be an opportunity to take a short boat trip through the canyon. Next, we continue to Okatse Canyon. A spectacular walk along suspended walkways high above the valley offers impressive views of one of the most dramatic landscapes in western Georgia. After sightseeing, transfer to Kutaisi. Hotel check-in and free time. DAY 4 - KUTAISI AND RETURN TO POLAND After breakfast, depending on the flight schedule, free time in Kutaisi. The currently planned departure time is approximately 11:00 AM. Transfer to the airport. Return flight to Poland. End of the package tour.
